I would like to introduce an up incoming rapper, Kariem Hassan aka “Lil Dose”. His love for music began at the young age of 7. His mother had her own love for music and by giving him an MP3 player triggered his music senses. One genre in particular caught his attention, Hip-hop. With classics like The Chronic by Dr. Dre, Doggystyle by Snoop Dog, and We Can’t Be Stopped by the Geto Boys. Lil Dose gained a great love and respect for music of the south. Branching off and listening to artists like Mystikal, UGK, Z-Ro, and Trae Tha Truth. The lyricism caught his attention and he was hooked. “The story telling was incredible” Lil Dose described. At the age of 13, Lil Dose lost his father and began his journey of abusing drugs like Xanax and Klonopin.
His mother then made the decision to move the family to Charlotte, North Carolina. This is when his drug problem gradually became worse. Hitting rock bottom Lil Dose turned to the only thing he could count on, music. Strung out in a motel room he began recording with just his computer and microphone. The music gave him a purpose, a reason to be, a purpose.
Recording and writing made him put down the drugs and focus on his career. “I like to think Hip-Hop saved my life” Lil Dose said. His debut album Lil Dose Da’Illest will be dropping in the next few months so make sure yall check him out and follow this artist because he has a lot to say with a great sound. Lil Dose hopes to link and work with other artists from the city and put Ohio on the map.
